China May iron ore imports up 3% on year to 92.52 mln tonnes – customs

BEIJING — China’s iron ore imports rose 3% in May from the same month a year earlier, customs data showed on Thursday, after disruptions to shipments by major suppliers eased.

The world’s top iron ore consumer brought in 92.52 million tonnes of the ingredient last month, up from 89.79 million tonnes in May 2021, the General Administration of Customs said.

Steel products exports in May stood at 7.76 million tonnes, according to customs. (Reporting by Dominique Patton Editing by Gareth Jones)
